BETTY'S HOLIDAY SHOW CELEBRATES "SNOWBIZ"
Legendary pop/rock band BETTY's wildly popular annual holiday shows return to Joe's Pub in New York City from Friday December 17 through Sunday, December 19 at 9:30pm. In addition to songs, stories and special musical guests celebrating the season, each show will be a differently themed release party for BETTY's new holiday CD, Snowbiz. BETTY starts the season with a kickoff extravaganza in the Washington DC area at the Iota Club and Café on Saturday, December 11 at 9:30pm.
BETTY is a five-piece band fronted by singer/songwriters Alyson Palmer, Amy Ziff, Elizabeth Ziff, with back-up guitarist Tony Salvatore and Mino Gori on drums. For 18 years BETTY has rocked audiences around the world with adrenaline-charged live performances, soaring harmonies and a wicked sense of humor. Using song, story and prizes, their intimate holiday extravaganzas celebrate the last year's dazzling accomplishments and next year's desperate hopes. Special Musical Guests will include Emily Saliers (Indigo Girls), world-renowned classical guitarist Sharon Isbin, teen-girl quartet Kassandra, Daphne Ruben-Vega and the return of both Jane Siberry and Gloria Steinem. Past guests have included Kate Pierson (The B-52's), Toshi Reagon, Miss Maggie Moore, David Driver (People are Wrong), Evelyn Harris (Sweet Honey in the Rock), Theo Kogan (ex-Lunachicks), director Scott Ellis and Sissy Poarch, The Pie Lady.
The CD Snowbiz features soon-to-be classics for the seasonally depressed, like "Miracles Can Happen" and "Xmas Ain't Coming This Year". Also lending their talents for the album are Genya Raven (Goldie and the Gingerbreads the first all-female rock band), Allison Miller (Natalie Merchant) and Gloria Steinem. Produced by Mike Thorne (Soft Cell, OETil Tuesday), Snowbiz is an eclectic collection of harmony-laced songs, deep sleigh grooves and bittersweet tales sure to brighten the spirits of the meanest Grinch.
