ahhhhh...fall in nyc...such a great time to walk through central park...thinking about love, and music, and of course chocolate.
we are getting ready to go back to europe for a couple of shows, then return to the city for holidaze happiness.
our shows have been so amazing...the people we’ve met and the places we’ve been...(wait-that sounds like a song!)
i better get in some quality time with my baby, chihuahua, before she sees my suitcase and starts to sulk...
more later!
xo

Tomorrow, we head to Miami for a show. We haven't been playing with the full band, so I am thrilled to be full-on rockin' it again with the guys. It's been so fun playing all over the world with Amy and Elizabeth, especially after all that's happened. I think we appreciate each other more and aren't caring as much about the insignificant details. It's cool to be able to toss some frillies into the rollerboard and hop on a plane to a train to a new village and sing our hearts out. But to have the whole band every once in awhile it to have the whole family. I just love it. Especially since so many new folks appear to be digging our music. It's is - as Marilyn McCoo would say - a stone groove. I am so thankful to the Universe for this time. xox

I’m really happy to be alive. I’ve been in BETTY for most of my life. It’s been a great adventure. Crazy, sex-filled, drinking, etc. you know, all the rock star crap. I’ve done other things besides travel the world and record and play with BETTY. I’m an activist and rad feminist. Support pro-choice causes, Ms. Foundation for Women, Equality Now, the list goes on…I’ve written for BUST magazine, co-wrote the play BETTY RULES that rocked off broadway, Chicago, San Fran, and D.C. For the last 5 years I was the co-executive producer, writer, and composer for the Showtime show The L Word. I produce and record music. Do remixes. DJ. Surf. Do yoga. And this year I’m learning how to ride a motorcycle finally. I love Amy and Alyson more than life. The last 2 years I have been through a rough battle with breast cancer, and our latest CD I was on Chemotherapy when we recorded it. So buy it. But I’m here to stay! Been through the worst of it, now I just want to rock with the girls. And see art, be with my friends, eat well, and make love.

Last night, a massive electrical storm rolled over Manhattan. At 2am, the unimaginable happened. For five full seconds, there was absolute, eerie silence. In a city of over 8 million people, that’s as rare as blue cheese tap-dancing down from the sky. Not a car alarm sounded, no sirens, no staggering footsteps accompanying a boozy mobile phone call, no birds, no wind, nothing but a long, breathless moment. Then, a distant smell, acrid and sharp, oozed through the window. A low sizzle began, as if the edges of the sky were burning to a crisp. Finally… >ka-POW!< an atomic bomb of lighting shattered the silence into fragments that echoed as they fell directly over the Lower East Side. I remembered at that moment that I was one small being, with miniscule problems, here for a very short time, at the mercy of forces that grow only more strange and powerful over time.
Sort of like BETTY.
I am very happy to be here, very thankful for all I continue to learn, even though it can be a royal pain to get the lesson.
I wish you all the very best love,
xox

i am so super psyched about our new cd. and people seem to really groove to it. yahoo.
slow steady, BETTY is hitting it for live shows all over the place...
i love meeting all the great people after we play, so many fun folks...so little time....
i have a couple of “things” on my list to do as we start touring more.
i actually went to the gym today, and worked up a good sweat like nobody’s biz- then came home and promptly downed an ice cold bud in 3 gulps. life is good, my chums.
now, let me work out some cello parts, ok?
i’ll get back to you all in a bit.
xo
